Plenty of lathe work in this video, making the brass washers and mild steel screws for the John Wilding "Large Wheel Skeleton Clock" project. I also tackle a problem that has been bugging me for a while - how to get a decent scratch free polish using diamantine powder. Far from a perfect finish, but a big improvement on my previous efforts at a black polish. A spare magnetic holder, and a cool looking light.. Hmm the possibilities!
In this second episode of the John Wilding Large Wheel Skeleton Clock build, I machine the 3 pillars that separate the clock frames. One of the most enjoyable things about making clocks, is it gives you a great excuse to make new tools for the shop... Like you needed an excuse! Well there's no going back now...This is the BIG project for this year. I will be making everything from scratch (except the mainspring), so there will be a feast of machining and fabricating for you over the next year. Make sure you subscribe to the channel, to follow the build progress. |
