Making A 'D' Bit Single Flute Milling Cutter

If (like me) you don't have a tool cutter/grinder in your shop, then 'D' bits are an awesome piece of old school tech, that can often be the solution you need for a critical cutting problem.

I use them for all sorts of drilling and milling cutters, as well as hand held countersinks.

This video is mainly focused on the milling/profile type of D bit cutter, but I should also mention that D Bits are truly spectacular at drilling very deep, close tolerance holes. Bore the hole deep enough to accommodate the cutter up to the full diameter, and from there it self locates and will just keep on going, straight and true, essentially like a gun drill. Its amazingly effective for a shop made cutter. Much backing off for chip removal required though!
